Indeed, it's Full of Nonsense, Over-the-Top Hospitality and Self-Help Jargon. However, I Honestly Adore Meghan's Christmas Special.

No concerned with the season, it's always open season for scrutiny on the Duchess of Sussex's Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. Reviewers, from seasoned journalists to online pundits, have rarely been so united as when gleefully ripping the series' initial installments to pieces. The general consensus seemed to be a greater royal outrage had never been witnessed than the now-infamous snack re-labeling incident.

Presently, like a merry renegade master, she makes a comeback with a new offering with a "Holiday Celebration" (also known as a holiday episode). But this time, the dynamic has changed. The familiar ingredients we've come to expect – psychobabble word salads, overzealous entertaining – persist, but set of a yuletide episode, the purpose becomes clear. The puzzle has come perfectly; it's a perfect snow storm.

By this point, Meghan resembles the eccentric aunt at Christmas celebrations everywhere – dispensing random tips, and contributing the odd random outburst. ("I love spinach!" … "A tradition has to have a beginning." … "A tree is part of my memory and love of the holiday season.") She's quite a personality, but her presence is familiar and oddly reassuring. And she appears happy enough; she's not doing a bit of damage.

She knows her all subtle gestures, syllable and look will be analyzed and scrutinized, but still appears unburdened and remarkably at ease.

Perhaps this is the first occasion in history where that old chestnut – "Pay no mind, it's only envy" – might be true. Because, you know what?, everything in Meghan's Holiday Celebration truly is delightful. Admittedly, it's all cringily ultra-extra, foolishness and flamboyant – but doesn't that represent exactly what Yuletide is about? And the talk she's talking might be absurd, but the walk she's walking genuinely looks shop-bought.

Anything she attempts, she accomplishes with flair. Her cooking looks scrumptious, the holiday arrangement she crafts is gorgeous, her presents are practically too exquisite to unwrap. Nothing is average or aesthetically displeasing – including the way she secures her apron is stylish and elegant. She doesn't toss a meal in the oven, it "has a moment", and she creases wrapping paper like an origami guru. She also seems to be completely savoring herself the entire time. How could any hate-watcher not be charmed, filled with holiday spirit and left with a powerful yearning for crafted festive snaps or a crudites platter where greens is arranged in the likeness of a wreath?

Meghan had a career in acting for a living, naturally, but despite that, after the degree of attention she has weathered from the moment she met Prince Harry, a theoretical combination of acting royalty would find it hard to appear this authentically. Her unwillingness to modify or even moderate her routine, despite it being so constantly, internationally ridiculed, is weirdly comforting. In our uncertain world, here is one thing we can rely on: Meghan will be like this, no matter what. We will always know what to expect with her.

If you're remaining skeptical of her brand, a reminder that will surely come as a relief: you don't have to. There isn't mandatory conscription in this country, and were it to return, it would be unlikely to include streaming With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. If, on the other hand, you choose to watch and are gripped with longing about her picture-perfect Christmas, you can take solace either. If you are a royal or a everyday person, hardly any child completely grasps the effort and hard work their mum puts in in the holiday season. So you can take heart by envisioning the young royals' faces when they unfold a calligraphy note that says, 'I love you because you are brave,' from a homemade Advent calendar, rather than a sweet treat.
